Consulting engineering firm Civic has acquired Edinburgh-based structural and civil engineering consultancy Quattro, bringing a team of 15 engineers and technicians into the business.
Founded in 2009, Quattro Consult Limited (incorporating Stuart McTaggart Limited) has built a reputation for trusted, long‑term client relationships and delivering exceptional engineering consultancy services across residential, hotels, industrial and logistics, and heritage sectors for clients including Artisan, GSS Developments and Buccleuch Property. The team will integrate fully into Civic from 1st March 2026, following a short transition period.
Civic said this latest acquisition reinforces a commitment to scaling responsibly while retaining its collaborative, people‑focused culture. Operating throughout the UK, from Edinburgh, Quattro’s structural and civil engineering capability strengthens Civic’s growing platform of complementary services and supports its vision to deliver positive impact for people, place and planet.
It also marks Civic’s third acquisition since 2024, reflecting the company’s continued expansion and its strategy to incorporate complementary services united by a passion for design‑led thinking, climate resilience and a fresh perspective on how infrastructure and placemaking can deliver more for society.
Recent acquisitions include place experts New Practice, and the acquisition of MEP consultancy Watt Energy & Consulting Engineers, which fully integrated into Civic in 2025, alongside the recently established earth, heritage, sustainability and environmental teams and the Irish team based out of a Dublin studio.
Mark Fisher, director of Quattro Consult Limited, said: “Civic is a natural cultural fit for us and provides the scale and specialist breadth needed in today’s evolving market. This is a major opportunity for our team and our clients, opening new pathways for career development and collaborative, design‑led engineering.
Quattro has always been a client‑focused engineering consultancy, and our staff are fundamental to our success. Joining Civic allows us to build on that foundation, access a wider client base and work within a consultancy known for its innovative, complementary services. We see this as an exciting next chapter for our people and our long‑standing clients.”
Stephen O’Malley, chief executive of Civic, said: “Mark and the team at Quattro bring a huge amount of established engineering expertise, knowledge and skill, and they are highly respected by their clients. Their long‑standing relationships and strong pipeline complement Civic’s ethos and strengthen our collective ability to deliver positive impact across the built environment.
“This acquisition enables us to combine our respective strengths, expand our geographic reach and range, and reinforce Civic’s commitment to Scotland with a stronger footprint in Edinburgh. It also demonstrates the continued delivery of our growth strategy, helping us increase our scale, resilience and ability to compete, while ensuring both teams can have an even greater impact together.”
Isla Jackson, Scotland director, added: “Quattro brings deep local knowledge, longstanding client relationships and a highly respected engineering team, all of which meaningfully strengthen our Scottish operations. The team’s arrival is a strategic step forward for Civic in Scotland, enhancing our ability to support clients with joined‑up, design‑led thinking across a broader range of projects and sectors.
“As Civic continues to invest in growing our Edinburgh and Glasgow presence, bringing Quattro into the business allows us to scale with intent – staying rooted in place while expanding our capacity to deliver high‑quality, considered engineering that responds to the needs of communities and the environment.”
Civic’s advisors for the acquisition included Cowgills as corporate finance and Hill Dickinson as solicitors.
