Clark Contracts joins RNLI to celebrate 200th anniversary

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) recently marked its 200th anniversary with a special reception at the Northern Lighthouse Boards office in Edinburgh, following its founding on 4th March 1824.

Representatives from Clark Contracts, the main contractor currently delivering RNLI’s new boathouse in Anstruther, attended the event, which looked ahead to the charity’s future.

The reception featured speeches from Peter Sparkes (RNLI CEO), Jill Hepburn (RNLI head of region Scotland), and host Clare Adamson MSP. The focus was on celebrating collaboration with RNLI’s partners including agencies, charities, organisations, and individuals, and addressing the evolving needs of Scotland’s coastal communities.

Michael Scanlan, director at Clark Contracts, said: “It is fantastic to be involved in RNLI’s 200th celebrations and we are proud to be delivering the new flagship RNLI facility at Anstruther.”

Clark Contracts is currently on site delivering the new lifeboat station, which will provide a modern base for the volunteer crew and a permanent home for the state-of-the-art Shannon-class lifeboat that arrived in Fife last year.
