Clyde Homes Limited to increase manufacturing capacity with factory move

Affordable homes builder Clyde Homes Limited is on the move to new manufacturing premises.

The company, which builds a range of affordable and bespoke homes to customer’s requirements, is increasing manufacturing capacity for its factory built homes and moving to new premises in Coatbridge after agreeing lease terms on a new site and compound that allows the firm to increase production to around 500 units per year.

Colin Young, the driving force behind Clyde Homes Ltd, said: “The growth in interest in our model of building fully completed homes in our factory and then simply installing ready move into homes on sites across the UK, and our increasing order book, give us confidence in the future of volumetric and modular housebuilding as the future for low environmental impact, high quality, affordable housing, that meets the needs of families, and our commitment to providing homes for all.

“The premises are to undergo refurbishment and will be ready to commence manufacturing shortly. The increased production capacity allow us to increase production and sales whilst reducing operating costs so that we can continue our mission of ensuring everyone can have their own home, reducing the social and economic costs of homelessness, providing affordable homes to those currently excluded from the market, and changing the lives of families who the conventional housebuilding and mortgage markets often leave behind.

“We are seeing growing interest from private and public sector bodies in our homes, as a way of addressing the current UK wide housing crises, and recent mention of Clyde Homes in the Scottish Government housing debates highlights our contribution, as Scotland’s only true volumetric housebuilder to changing the way homes are built and delivered.”

Along with the factory move Clyde Homes is also moving into residential development on its own account and seeking sites joint ventures and partnerships with landowners and others to grow the affordable homes sector.
