Community event to showcase the £130m transformation of Lochside

An event is being held next week giving residents the opportunity to see the ambitious regeneration plans for Lochside.
Hosted by Wheatley Homes and Dumfries and Galloway Council, the event on Wednesday 2 July will see the formal launch of the masterplan for the future of the area.
The community-led regeneration of Lochside began in 2022 and has seen more than 1300 residents, Wheatley customers and local business share their views on the transformation.
The multi-million-pound transformation will see existing Wheatley homes upgraded, hundreds of new energy-efficient homes built, connectivity and active travel routes improved, and new green space in Lochside.
Alex Lamb, managing director of Wheatley Homes in the region, said: “Everyone at Wheatley Homes is very excited to launch the Lochside regeneration masterplan.
“The views of the local community have been key to shaping this regeneration and we are grateful so many have taken the time to share their thoughts on the future of Lochside.
“Along with our partners at Dumfries and Galloway Council, we hope to see as many people as possible attend this event and share their views on the proposals.”
The masterplan will see around £130 million invested in the area to drive forward a housing-led regeneration.
The event will take place at the YMCA, Lochside Road Dumfries, DG2 0NF between 3pm and 7pm with the formal launch of the masterplan being at 4pm.
