New Considerate Constructors Scheme framework to boost industry collaboration

The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) has introduced a new partnership framework created to make it easier for built environment organisations to engage in a way that reflects their position, stage and key areas of focus.

The model guides organisations from the starting point of initial engagement through to leadership.

The framework has seven partner types, in a bid to give tailored routes towards recognition and support.

The partner types are:

  • Pathway Contractor Partner - for developing or growing contractors who are seeking structured support. This provides a clear improvement route which employs performance insight, tailored support and industry connection, supporting contractors to build capability, boost standards and move forward with more assurance.
  • Supply Chain Partner - for subcontractors, specialists, manufacturers and material providers. This works to help organisations use strong performance to achieve more visibility, better relationships and new opportunities while mirroring CCS values.
  • Contractor Partner - for big or established contractors spearheading project delivery. This intends to deliver visibility, benchmarking and chances to show industry leadership and influence best practice.
  • Client & Public Sector Partner - for clients, housing providers, local authorities and public bodies. This intends to provide more visibility and benchmarking insight to aid decision-making and achieve progress, while employing CCS standards to support governance, consistency and social value objectives.
  • Strategic Partner - for industry bodies, federations, training organisations and sector‑wide initiatives. This aims to achieve strategic-level collaboration in a bid to develop shared objectives and support improvement.
  • Knowledge Partner (to be introduced early next year) - for commercial organisations, consultants, technology and service providers who want to share knowledge, innovation and insight via collaborating with the CCS community. This works to support leadership, events, and campaigns.
  • Pledge Partner (to be introduced early next year) - for designers, consultants and pre‑construction professionals. This provides an engagement route for organisations looking to employ responsible construction values during planning, design and pre-construction stages.

Desiree Blamey, managing director for Considerate Constructors Scheme, said: “Our new Partner Types recognise the diversity of the sector and give organisations a simple, modern and flexible way to engage with CCS and raise standards together.”

Engagement with contractors, clients, designers, supply chain partners and industry bodies has driven the formation of the framework.

The partner types sit alongside the CCS Code, which was updated in May this year, giving organisations a framework for registration and partnership.
