Jo Blewett has been appointed as the newest member of Construction Scotland Innovation Centre’s Governance Board.

The Innovation Centre, which was launched in October 2014, brings together industry, academia and the public sector to deliver transformational change in construction. The Centre is supported by Scottish Funding Council, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and 13 Scottish university partners.

Dr Blewett, who is Transport Scotland’s A9 Dualling Programme Manager, has a PhD from Heriot-Watt University and is a chartered civil engineer. She has worked in civil engineering research, private consultancy and the public sector and has been working for Transport Scotland since 2005 on a range of trunk road improvement projects.

Jo said: “I am delighted to join the governance board of Construction Scotland Innovation Centre at what is a very exciting time for our industry. CSIC is here to support all construction businesses across Scotland, from architects to product manufacturers to facilities managers, and connect them to the expertise and services they need to develop their innovative ideas. We have a very healthy pipeline of innovative projects at the moment, but are always looking for more – so if you have even the seeds of an idea, please get in touch. I’m especially keen to support projects around infrastructure.”

Bill McBride, chair of Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, said: “It’s great to be able to welcome Jo onto our Governance Board. Through her many years in the engineering sector she brings a wealth of private and public sector experience to the table. She joins a passionate and committed team who will help ensure the Innovation Centre continues to be a success, and who are all very much looking forward to working with her.”
