Construction worker dies on Aberdeen hospital site

A construction worker died yesterday at the Foresterhill Health Campus site in Aberdeen.

The 51-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering head injuries.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been made aware and is investigating the matter with Police Scotland.

Graham is the main contractor on the £167 million project to build the new Baird Family Hospital.

The construction firm confirmed that work had been halted and the incident had involved a sub-contractor.

Graham said in a statement: “We can confirm an incident involving one of our subcontractors took place today and that emergency services were called.

“We have halted work on site and are liaising with the emergency services and Health and Safety Executive.”

A HSE spokesperson added: “HSE is aware of the incident. We are currently liaising with Police Scotland and will be investigating alongside them.”

The Baird Family Hospital project is due to be completed next year.
