Cube Glass secures University of Glasgow project

Cube Glass secures University of Glasgow project

Cumbernauld-based precision manufacturer Cube Glass has been awarded a £400,000 contract to refurbish the University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Building.

In association with Glasgow-based Morris & Spottiswood, the project will see Cube Glass remove old windows, doors and curtain wall and replace them with new super-insulated aluminium products.

The deal comes as the company secured a major commercial breakthrough in winning its first contract to undertake work for retail giant Tesco.

Operating alongside contractor Key Property Solutions (KPS), Cube Glass will next month begin a £250,000 project to install a timber curtain walling system for a new Tesco Superstore in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Gary Thorn, founder and managing director of Cube Glass, said: “Undertaking a project for a Tesco Superstore is a major step forward for us and we hope it may lead to further such opportunities coming our way.”

In addition, the company has secured two further contracts in the education sector worth £200,000. Acting alongside Morrison Construction, Cube Glass will undertake refurbishment work at Milnes High School in Fochabers and Speyside High School in Aberlour, installing a new range of super-insulated windows and doors produced by innovative Northern Ireland-based Metal Technologies.

Cube Glass posted a record turnover of £4.5m in the year to October 2023, up from £3.25m in the previous year.
