Dandara begins work on Portlethen petrol station

Dandara Aberdeen has started construction work on the first phase of EG Group’s new development at Dandara’s City South Business Park in Portlethen.

Once completed, the petrol filling station will consist of 10 fuel pumps, a convenience store and two food-service concessions, along with four ultra-fast electric vehicle charging points spread across the three-acre site near Aberdeen City Centre.

The construction work will create between 25 and 30 local jobs, reflecting EG’s continued commitment to investing in local communities and providing more customers with an extensive product offering.

Located in a prime position adjacent to the A90 running north of Aberdeen, the new petrol station will be open for business by the end of the year and is expected to drive a daily influx of customers by catering to a broad range of customer needs and providing a comprehensive offering.

Neil Findlay, UK development director of EG Group, said: “We are pleased to have commenced construction of our Petrol Filling Station at Portlethen, which is ideally located in a prominent position, visible from one of the busiest road networks in the Northeast of Scotland. We are set to complete phase one by the end of this year and look forward to welcoming customers to our site.”

Dandara said that the construction work reflects another boost for the local economy and City South Business Park, which is home to KCA Deutag, Richard Irvin, HVAC, LHR Marine, lift specialist Otis and Clearwater Electrical.

Claire Bathgate, head of sales at Dandara Aberdeen, added: “This is brilliant news for the park and the wider Aberdeen economy, and I am sure it will be a popular stopping off point for road users and for the residents of Portlethen and occupiers of the park. In recent years City South has continued to buck the trend by attracting new residents and we have a number of exciting announcements coming soon.”

A third phase of building work started at City South in September 2023 comprising of a further 29 industrial units ranging in size from 850-2,000 sq ft. with a number of these already bought/pre-let from plan. This follows on from the previous two construction phases with the park currently more than 80% occupied.

Additional land is available for development at City South, offering companies the option to have a building designed and built to their specifications by Dandara or to buy land and build their own premises.

Following the completion of building work for EG Group, more than 13 acres of land will have been developed at City South in total. The units currently available in Phase 2 at City South range in size from 1,500 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft with phase 3 units starting at 850sqft.
