Developer seeks amendment to allow for housing project at Perth Airport
Plans have been lodged for an £8 million housing development aimed at over 55s near Perth Airport.
About this development:
- Authority:Perth and Kinross
- Team:Morris Leslie Group (developer)
Morris Leslie Ltd, which already has planning consent for holiday accommodation at the 13-acre location off the A93, is seeking an amendment to pave the way for the creation of 53 units on the site to be occupied year-round.
If approved, the ‘Forest Park Village’ will see the creation of 53 units delivered in the secluded woodland area.
Morris Leslie spokesman Colin McLachlan told The Courier: “While many businesses are holding off investing due to the impact of the pandemic, Morris Leslie is confident the demand will remain strong in this sector and is committed to the local area.
“Morris Leslie is looking to diversify its property portfolio and we have recognised the huge demand for homes in this sector. There are various flat developments in Perth aimed at the over-55s but Forest Park Village will offer an alternative lifestyle.”
To support its bid to deviate from the Local Development Plan, the company commissioned a two-year survey from Newcastle University.
Morris Leslie has also sounded out the Perth & Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership, which confirmed it would not anticipate any additional demands on the social care sector.
Mr McLachlan added: “The study noted it has the potential to help meet the stated goal of increasing the range of homes available in Perth and Kinross and free up much-needed family homes, as people downsize.”
