Developer to add three new storeys with residential conversion of Glasgow office building

Plans for a three-storey residential roof extension to Campbell House in Glasgow have been granted full planning permission.

The office building at 215 West Campbell Street currently sits empty 

Detail Residential will deliver five apartments above a new ground floor office, with a further three flats being formed within the new floors.



A large communal rooftop garden will provide a unique central outdoor space for the residents.

The application was approved by planning officers who stated: “The proposal will return an active use to the long-term vacant office building. This shall assist in increasing the residential population of the city centre. The provision of residential accommodation in this location will contribute towards building a sustainable city centre community whilst supporting the city centre economy.”

“The change of use has been designed to deliver appropriate urban residential amenity standards, with the benefit of a private roof terrace for external amenity.



“A number of the units provide three-bed accommodation therefore are of a size that may be suitable to families. As the proposal is car-free, it also supports the development of sustainable communities.

“The roof-top extension is considered to be have been designed to respond appropriately to the existing building, utilising materials to match existing and introducing a modern high quality metal cladding.”

Work on site is due to commence in late spring 2024.
