Developers submit Midlothian housing plans
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland and Hallam Land Management Ltd have submitted a detailed planning application to Midlothian Council for 212 new homes at Seafield Road in Bilston.
This week’s submission follows successful community engagement initiatives including a local Public Exhibition of its plans.
The 8.6 hectare site is identified for housing in the Proposed Midlothian Local Development Plan, and the proposed development aims to offer a high-quality residential environment as well as a mix of open spaces in a design that is sensitive to neighbouring properties.
As well as a range of over 200 private new homes with a mix of two and three bedroom semi-detached and terraced, as well as four and five bedroom detached properties, the detailed proposal also incorporates plans to provide 25 per cent affordable homes.
Further community benefits will be agreed with Midlothian Council as the project progresses.
She added: “Along with our development partner Hallam Land Management Ltd, we are delighted to confirm that detailed planning application has been submitted for our Bilston development.
“We’ve worked together with Hallam Land Management Ltd over a number of years, and we believe that we have created a detailed proposal that aims to begin the delivery of the vision that Midlothian Council has for this area and it offers significant benefits to the local community.”
Gary Smith, Scotland director for Hallam Land Management Ltd, said: “We are pleased to be submitting our application for these much needed private and affordable homes in the Bilston area, and look forward to further advancing the project in conjunction with our development partner Taylor Wimpey.”
