CHAP Group has announced two senior promotions in Tayside and the north-east.

Paul Matthew, who joined CHAP in 2023 as area construction director for Tayside, has been promoted to divisional director.

Under his leadership, the Tayside office is “now well established”, CHAP said, with recent project successes including Broughty Ferry Care Home, the Dundee Museum of Transport, and the completion of Stanley Studios Phases 1 & 2, The Gibson Trust Care Home in St Andrews, and Kythe Distillery.

In his new role, Mr Matthew will be responsible for driving business performance, client relationships, and operational delivery across the Tayside region.

Malcolm Thomson, who joined CHAP in 2021 as a senior contracts manager and was promoted to operations manager in 2024, has been appointed construction director in Aberdeen.

His recent experience includes renovation works at the Marcliffe Hotel, delivering the new Skylark brasserie in the former courtyard, upgraded kitchens, and refurbished bedrooms.

He is currently leading the Queen Street project on behalf of Aberdeen City Council and hub North Scotland, alongside two key worker legacy housing projects for Hillcrest and SSEN.

Mr Thomson will take a leading management role, responsible for the delivery of construction projects in the Aberdeen region.

Commenting on the appointments, CHAP Group’s managing director, Hugh Craigie, said: “In 2021 we set out our strategy to build a stronger, more resilient and regionally diverse CHAP. Five years later we’re pleased to report sustained growth in both turnover and geographic reach.

“That success stems from the calibre and commitment of our people. Paul and Malcolm exemplify the leadership and delivery excellence that define our business, and their promotions reflect both their achievements and our confidence in the next phase of CHAP’s growth.”
