Draft local heat and energy efficiency strategy published by Western Isles Council

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) has published a draft local heat and energy efficiency strategy.

The strategy places a duty on local authorities to prepare, publish and update a Local Heat and Energy Efficiency strategy by 31 December 2023, to keep this under review and publish an updated LHEES every five years. The LHEES sets out the long-term plan for the entire local authority area to decarbonise heat and improve energy efficiency.

A draft LHEES Strategy and Delivery Plan have been developed and were approved to go to public consultation by Policy and Resources Committee on 20 September 2023.

Responses are invited from individuals and organisations by Monday 23 October at 5pm.



The Comhairle is inviting individuals and organisations to submit comments on the Draft Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy and Delivery plan.

“Your feedback is important to ensure our priorities and outcomes have a positive impact,” the Comhairle said.

Comments on the Draft Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy and Delivery Plan can be submitted via the Online Questionnaire. Alternatively, comments can be submitted in writing or by e-mail.

Comments received will be reviewed and the draft Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy amended as appropriate.



The updated draft of the Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy will be considered by the Policy and Resources Committee of the Comhairle which will be held on 29 November 2023.
