Dunbar charity blossoms following Persimmon donation

The Dunbar Community Woodland Group has received £6,000 from Persimmon East Scotland.

The Dunbar-based woodland group was announced as one of the housebuilder’s Community Champions after applying for funding.

The funding was used to transport two new containers to the woodland, which Persimmon East Scotland donated. The containers have been put to use, storing various tools and toys for the variety of activities the group runs for locals to make the most of the local woodland.

The Dunbar Community Woodland Group was set up to oversee the care and maintenance of Lochend Woods, which belong to the people of Dunbar. The group ensures they maximise the potential of Lochend Woods for educational and recreational purposes.

The group received the £6,000 donation through Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which supports charities and good causes in the areas the company operates in. The programme has seen more than £350,000 donated across Scotland in the last five years.

Neil Parry, Persimmon East Scotland managing director, said: “We are delighted to support the Dunbar Community Woodland Group ensuring that they can continue to protect, preserve and utilise the local woodland to the benefit of locals.

“We are determined to leave a lasting legacy in the areas we operate, supporting fantastic groups such as the Dunbar Community Woodland Group is a big part of that.”
