Detailed plans to transform a former Dundee market building into a children’s leisure complex complete with Europe’s largest roller glider have been given the green light.

Designed by local firm ARKTX , the £1.5 million project will see the former Dens Road Market converted to include 10-pin bowling, trampolines, slides, a roller glider, a mini-golf course and a cafe.

DENS ROAD VIEWLocal businessman Chris Airlie, who purchased the site in 2013, revealed plans are also in place to create a rope-themed adventure course and a climbing wall facility.

Initial plans for the complex were approved in September last year

ARKTX director Fraser Middleton told Scottish Construction Now the complex promises to be an “industry leading” development.

DENS ROAD ELEVATIONFraser said: “The ideas included in this adventure complex coincide with the innovation happening down at the Dundee Waterfront and have so far been very well received by the public.

“Our aim was to provide a modern design within the constraints of the old building by saving as much of the existing steel structures as we can.

“We look forward to working with the client to progress this great facility.”
