Dundee scaffolder rises to site management with Persimmon

Jay MacKenzie

Persimmon Homes North Scotland has announced the promotion of Jay MacKenzie to assistant site manager following a year on the company’s in-house trainee assistant site manager programme.

The 30-year-old from Dundee has been gaining hands-on experience across Tayside, working on sites from Carnoustie to Crieff.

Jay joined Persimmon in January 2025, bringing with him practical experience as a former scaffolder, having completed his apprenticeship in 2015. His enthusiasm for construction and dedication on site inspired him to take the next step into site management.

In his new role, Jay will work alongside award-winning Site Manager Craig Savill, a two-time NHBC Pride in the Job winner, at Persimmon’s Kinloch Brae development in Blairgowrie, which is delivering over 130 energy-efficient homes to the local community.

Jay said: “I’m thrilled to take on this new role and continue learning from Craig and the wider team. Moving into site management has been a goal for some time, and it’s exciting to be part of a project delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes that will make a real difference for people across Tayside.”

Head of construction, David Lowe, added: “Jay has shown great commitment, enthusiasm, and skill throughout the Trainee programme. He’s earned this promotion and I’m looking forward to working with him as we continue to deliver homes of the highest standard at Kinloch Brae.”
