The final phase of the wider development at Hallhill, will see 197 houses and 48 flats delivered by Taylor Wimpey.

The development will include 28 affordable houses and 36 affordable flats as well as a community sports pitch.

A total of four objections had been raised to the plans, including from the community council, and covered concerns such as an increase in traffic and pressure on existing services in the town.

A motion to continue the application to allow for a recalculation of developer contributions for a safe route across the East Coast Main Line was outvoted. Committee members went on to approve the application by ten votes to one.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are delighted to confirm that a Resolution to Grant planning permission has been secured for our development of new homes on land off Yosemite Park in Dunbar. We believe this development will be a great further addition to the local area. It also complements our other developments across the region.

“Our development includes a provision of 25% affordable homes, and it will deliver Section 75 contributions that are valued in excess of £1.8 million that will provide a range of benefits for the wider local community, as well as the provision of land for a new sports pitch to the east of Lochend Primary.

As well as delivering an impressive range of new homes, our latest development at Hallhill in Dunbar will provide a range of economic benefits for the local area, which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.”

The committee also approved 100 houses as part of the wider development at Windygoul South, Tranent. The houses, in the centre of the site, will be a mix of 85 detached, two semi-detached and 13 terraced houses of 18 different house types. There will be four single storey bungalows.
