EMA hands students insight into a professional architectural practice

Architecture firm EMA has engaged with Edinburgh Napier University to provide a workshop to final year students on Design Procedures and Management.

The initiative offered Architectural Technology undergraduate students a workshop on their chosen profession and an insight into what it means to work in professional architectural practice.

Martin Robertson, senior chartered architectural technologist at EMA, made contact with Dr Suha Jaradat who is the associate professor of architectural technology at Edinburgh Napier University to discuss the initiative and was provided with a topic of ‘Design Procedures and Management’ to present to the students.

The presentation was done in a workshop format showing Baileyfield South, a live EMA project, and talking through some of the design procedures and responsibilities that will be expected of them when they graduate and join a professional practice.

Martin Robertson told SCN: “The workshop format proved successful with the students then engaging in questions during the presentation which help drive the narrative of the presentation.

“The aim behind this being a former Napier student myself was to inspire the next generation of achitectural technologists coming into the industry, offering them support and giving them an insight into how a practice runs.”
