Fletcher Joseph has launched its new brand identity and website, unveiling a new look which builds on the same strong foundations that have defined the Edinburgh-based architectural practice.

Recognising its 30-year history, Fletcher Joseph said its brand has evolved to reflect the practice and portfolio of work. With an exciting pipeline of current and upcoming projects, the new identity is “future-focused and enables the practice to confidently express its capabilities, balancing design ambition with real-world constraints”, the practice added.

The overall tone and visual presentation of the brand refresh reflect the vision statement, which guides  all of Fletcher Joseph’s work: ‘To design and deliver architecture that’s useful, thoughtful, and built to last.’

Fletcher Joseph has built up a strong portfolio of completed work covering the hospitality, student accommodation, residential and commercial sectors. From listed building refurbishment projects within Edinburgh’s UNESCO world heritage site, through to large-scale new build developments, its portfolio of work and breadth of experience covers a variety of scales and project sectors across the UK.

Key projects include the Royal Meadows mixed-use redevelopment of Edinburgh’s former Royal Hospital for Sick Children, the award-winning Nelson Street PBSA development in Belfast, and the Hoxton hotel refurbishment at Edinburgh’s Haymarket, which was completed this year.

The practice specialises in full architectural services, with experience in guiding projects from initial concept designs and feasibility studies, through to technical detailing and site delivery. Their approach centres on listening, collaboration, and making the tricky details work on site to shape solutions that are both creative and workable.

Sandy Deans, associate director and architect, said: “Every project has its puzzles. We like those parts. Our process has always been about listening, designing and delivering with confidence. This rebrand is no different: it’s carefully considered, approachable and future-focused.

“At the heart of our new identity is a wordmark that reflects the human nature behind our design - the rhythm, balance and quiet order that turn ideas into built form. You can see it in the ultimate lining through of our r and h, a small detail that speaks to the care and completeness we bring to every project.

“We’ve used this process to reaffirm how we communicate to stay clear, human and easy to connect with,  explaining the tricky bits in plain English and showing clients and collaborators we’re always on their side.

“Just like our architecture, we believe humble, honest communication helps us design and deliver work  that is useful, thoughtful and built to last.”
