FMB raises over £2,000 for Ukraine humanitarian appeal

Staff at the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) have raised £2,340 in aid of emergency support for the people of Ukraine following a fundraising drive.

The funds will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The FMB, the largest trade body in the UK construction sector, representing small and medium sized building firms, and campaigning for quality in construction, also recognises the work of the Ukrainian League of Masters, an NGO providing high level training for 16,000 specialists in the construction industry.

Brian Berry, chief executive of the FMB, said: “Colleagues at the FMB have been deeply affected by the horrific consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. They wanted to do their bit to support those whose homes have been damaged, and who have been displaced by the conflict.

“Small builders in the UK are feeling the knock-on consequences of the war which has become another factor in ever rising prices for essential building materials. While the FMB is giving a voice to builders here and helping them to communicate the impacts of inflation with their clients, we also felt strongly that we wanted to do something to help rebuild Ukraine as well.”
