Formal planning application submitted for 99 new flats at Salamander Yards development

7N Architects has submitted a formal planning application to the City of Edinburgh Council on behalf of Cruden Homes, seeking to build 99 flats as part of a new residential development at Salamander Yards in Edinburgh.

The project will deliver a mix of one, two and three-bed homes with 35% of the units being affordable and 51 out of 99 having dual aspects.

The plans include two ground-floor commercial units and a new public space bordering the Leith Links masterplan area, Urban Realm reports.

In a statement, 7N wrote: “The proposals will replace a carpet retail shed and represent a shift towards the City of Edinburgh’s ambitions for more housing on brownfield sites. The designs also anticipate CEC’s ‘Leith Connections’ programme of streetscape improvements which will see a protected cycle route being created between Salamander Street and Lindsay Road.
