Organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the prestigious Pride in the Job Awards 2026 crowned four regional winners at the Hilton Glasgow on Friday 11 September:

• Small builder category – Eric Wallace of Orkney Builders (Contractors) Limited for his work at Walliwall in Kirkwall.
• Medium builder category – Eddie McCann of Robertson Homes Limited for his work at Meadowside in Bo’ness.
• Large builder category – Peter Lawrie of Bellway Homes Scotland East for his work at Earl’s Way in Glenrothes.
• Multi-storey category – Campbell Te Rito of CALA Homes East for his work at Rosebery Wynd in South Queensferry.

As well as their category wins, Eric, Eddie, Peter and Campbell were each awarded a Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence.

John Murphy, managing director at Robertson Homes, said: “We are immensely proud of Eddie winning the regional award for Scotland.

“To be named the best site manager for builders of our size across the whole of Scotland is a huge achievement and reflects Eddie’s commitment to excellence across every aspect of house building.

“Building homes to the highest quality standards, in a respectful, considerate and safe manner is at the heart of everything we do at Robertson Homes and for Eddie to be recognised by the NHBC in this way gives our customers confidence to know their new homes are being constructed by such a skilled and dedicated team.”

Eddie McCann added: “I am thrilled to have won the Regional Award for Scotland and want to share my success with the whole construction team at Meadowside.

“It is a genuine team effort and I would like to recognise the collective hard work of everyone on the development to achieve our site goals.”

Commenting on his win, Peter Lawrie from Homes Ltd (Scotland East)said: “This is a huge testament to the contractors and everyone involved in the development. The award belongs to the whole team and not myself. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved at Earl’s Way and grateful to everyone who has played a part.”

John Dierikx, construction director for Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland East), said: “I am incredibly proud of Peter and everyone at Earl’s Way. Peter sets impeccable standards for himself and for the team around him. He leads by example, brings people with him and has created an exacting culture across all the build disciplines.

“Peter thoroughly deserves this recognition, but I know he would be the first to say that this is a team achievement - the Earl’s Way team and supply chain have played a huge part in what has been achieved, and they should all be proud of the success. To see Peter win his second Scottish Regional award with Bellway Scotland East was a fantastic moment for all of us, and I am personally delighted for him and the team. I know they will represent Bellway and Scotland with real distinction at the Supreme Awards in January.”

A further nine site managers from across Scotland were also awarded this accolade after they gained a Quality Award in the first round of the competition in June. They were:

• Scott Connor of CALA Homes West in Glasgow
• David Cooper of Barratt David Wilson West Scotland in Kilmarnock
• Duncan Currie of Miller Homes Scotland East in Bo’ness
• Barry Fraser of Barratt David Wilson North Scotland in Elgin
• Robert Hamilton of Barratt David Wilson West Scotland in Glenboig
• David McClure of Taylor Wimpey West Scotland in Maidenhill
• Duncan Moon of Guild Homes (Tayside) Limited in Edzell
• Fraser Stephen of Scotia Homes Limited in Inverurie
• Ewan Todd of Miller Homes Scotland East in Dalkeith. 

David McClure, senior site manager at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “While this is not my first Seal of Excellence, winning a Seal of Excellence Award again this year is a special moment for me and my team. Pride in the Job is so important to site managers. It’s often talked about as the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, so to be amongst the few people to receive the honour this year makes me feel very proud.

“We’ve worked really hard to ensure that our standards are high across all aspects of our work, as we want to make sure that we build the very best quality homes for customers. I want to thank my team for their fantastic support.”

Stefan Szymoszowskyj, NHBC regional director for Scotland, said: “Congratulations to all the winners. They have demonstrated incredible dedication, passion, commitment and leadership to produce homes of exceptional quality.

“The Pride in the Job competition is at the heart of NHBC’s core purpose to raise standards in house building. It inspires site managers to make their mark on the industry, earning the respect of their peers and leaving a legacy of homes built to the highest quality standards.”

A series of regional events are taking place throughout the UK to announce the Regional and Seal of Excellence Award winners and celebrate the achievements of the Quality Award recipients.

Eric, Eddie, Peter and Campbell will now go forward to compete for the ultimate prize in house building, the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards, which will be unveiled at a gala ceremony in London in January 2027.
