Full plans for Dundee Western Gateway approved

South_Gray_Village_DundeeSpringfield Properties has received full approval for its bid to bring 595 new homes to Dundee after councillors previously blocked one half of its planned development.

The developer had to submit two applications for the proposed £150 million Dundee Western Gateway village as it spans land owned by two different parties. Both applications were recommended for approval by city development director Mike Galloway but the city council only approved one of the submissions amid bizarre circumstances at the planning meeting.

However, the revised planning application for the remaining 365 Springfield homes in Dykes of Gray, just off the Swallow Roundabout, was approved by councillors last night.

Springfield have agreed to pay a roof tax to the council for each completed home on the development to be used for a new primary school and also identified three potential locations near the Dykes of Gray village where this could be built.

Springfield Properties chairman, Sandy Adam, attended the planning hearing and said: “We are pleased with the decision to approve our Dykes of Gray planning application. We listened to the feedback from Dundee Council in December and amended the points of concern in the application presented yesterday.”

He added: “We are planning to build a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, all designed to complement the area. With planning approved, Springfield is determined to have a sales office on site as early as June 2015.”
