GCU students experience work at Clark Contracts

Nine students from Glasgow Caledonian University’s School of Engineering and the Built Environment will be completing a six month work placement at Clark Contracts.

Four Quantity Surveying and five Construction Management students will be working alongside experienced Clark Contracts employees, many of whom have also progressed through the company’s highly successful Academy, on live projects to give them an insight into working in the construction industry.

Clark Contracts employs quantity surveying and construction management students annually through their Academy for their 6 month work experience placement. Many students accept full time, permanent contracts choosing to return to university part time to complete their qualification.

Clark Contracts Academy encompasses all employees that are undertaking part time studies at college or university at all levels across the business.

This further strengthens Clark Contracts relationship with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) where Managing Director, Gordon Cunningham, and Directors, Michael Scanlan and Gerry Cummins also studied. Of the over 250 employees at Clark Contracts, 22 per cent have studied or are currently studying at GCU.

As part of its commitment to the 5% Club, Clark Contracts recruit apprentices and undergraduates every year to ensure new talent is continually developed within the company.
