Gillian Murray scoops ‘Woman of the Year - Commercial’ award
The founder and managing director of two Scottish businesses, Gillian Murray, has scooped an accolade at a national awards.
Murray, who is the founder and managing director of Slipperfield Building Consultancy Ltd and Slipperfield Training, has been selected as the ‘Woman of the Year – Commercial’ at the national Property Week Inspiring Women in Property Awards.
During a ceremony in London on 22 September, the winners were named. Murray was also a finalist in three other categories: ‘Innovator of the Year’, ‘Woman of the Year - Professional Services’ and ‘Leader of the Year - Professional Services.’
A Chartered Building Surveyor and RICS Certified Historic Buildings Professional, Murray has a background in building surveying of over 25 years.
Murray has spearheaded technical due diligence on commercial property transactions in the UK, Ireland and Europe valued at £200,000 to over £1.2 billion.
Prior to establishing the West Linton-based Slipperfield, Murray spearheaded national technical due diligence and dilapidations teams at consultancies, working with institutional investors, private equity firms and Fortune 500 companies.
The Scottish building surveyor also spent a number of years with The Landmark Trust and The National Trust for Scotland.
The Property Week Inspiring Women in Property Awards 2026 judging panel said: “From managing an international team to founding two innovative businesses, her commitment to inclusion, technology and supporting experienced women makes her a hugely deserving contender.”
Murray said: “Reaching the final in four award categories was a lovely surprise, and winning ‘Woman of the Year – Commercial’ is something I’m still taking in.
“This award belongs to the whole Slipperfield team and our partner network across the UK and Europe.”
Murray added: “We started the business in 2025 to give commercial property clients clear, honest advice about the buildings they buy, own and occupy.
“Having that approach recognised on a national stage, as a Scottish business, means a great deal.”
