The Grampian Housing Association Group in partnership with Barratt & David Wilson Homes North Scotland has handed over the keys to the final 20 new homes to delighted tenants who will move into Osprey Heights in Inverurie before Christmas.

The final phase of this balanced community project is the culmination of a five-year rolling programme to deliver a total of 90 new affordable homes for social and mid-market rent.

The total investment of £11 million at Osprey Heights includes funding of £6m from the Scottish Government. It will help to meet the growing housing needs of Inverurie and represents part of a wider commitment by Grampian to deliver over 500 new homes in the North East of Scotland by 2024.

Chairman of the Grampian Housing Association Group, Dr Abhishek Agarwal, said: “People make places and our partnership with Barratt has enabled us to continue to provide affordable, tenure neutral, energy efficient homes where everyone has access to the same high standard of quality homes with high amenity regardless of their income.

“Our tenants’ experience demonstrates the need to continue with our commitment to provide new affordable homes to meet the diverse growing needs of the population in the North East of Scotland.”

Home seekers applied for the latest new homes through These Homes, a choice-based digital lettings service, which enables people to register their interest in specific properties online.

This final phase consists of 20 homes, a mix of one-bedroom flats two three and five-bedroom houses along with two bungalows with separate wet rooms and bathrooms).

All the homes benefit from exclusive use gardens and solar panels on the roof.

One tenant who moved into her new home this week said: “I’m absolutely thrilled with my new home. It has been great to be able to stay in Inverurie where my two boys are already settled in school.”

Scott Pettitt, technical director, Barratt & David Wilson Homes North Scotland, added: “We are delighted at completing these much needed affordable family homes , as part of the Osprey Heights development.

“We have strong relationships with Grampian Housing, and have worked closely with them to ensure that these properties were brought forward in the build programme to advance the affordable homes delivery in the Garioch area.”

Grampian currently owns and manages approximately 3,700 homes across the Grampian area.
