Glasgow-headquartered Holmes Miller has appointed Matt Pearson as studio lead for its Leeds office following a growth in demand across the north of England.

An experienced architect and design leader, Mr Pearson brings significant experience leading major civic, education and mixed-use projects, including work in complex stakeholder and publicly funded environments.

A Yorkshire native, he brings both professional leadership and a personal commitment to the region, with a clear focus on building a studio rooted in Yorkshire as his young family grows.

Callum Houston, managing director of Holmes Miller, said: “Matt’s appointment marks an important step in the development of our Leeds studio and our wider regional growth plans.

“We are seeing sustained demand across the North of England, particularly in education, civic and leisure sectors, and Matt brings the right combination of experience, leadership and regional understanding to respond to that demand.

“His ambition to build a long-term presence in Yorkshire aligns strongly with how we are developing the practice.”

Holmes Miller has an established track record of delivering significant projects in Yorkshire, including the York Community Stadium, and more recently securing a £40 million Department for Education school project.

The Leeds studio will build on this foundation, supporting work across education, leisure, residential and civic sectors.

Mr Pearson said: “Yorkshire has a strong architectural culture and a real opportunity for thoughtful, long-term practice.

“Having trained in the region and led complex public and education projects, I’m looking forward to building a Leeds studio with strong local roots, supported by the wider strength and experience of Holmes Miller.”
