Home Group Scotland begins retrofit project in Kelloholm
Home Group Scotland has started work on a retrofit project on four blocks of flats in Kelloholm.
The project will see a range of energy efficiency measures added to the existing homes, including replacing insulation in the exterior walls and the installation of solar PV panels.
A total of 12 flats will benefit from the retrofit work, which will aim to reduce customers’ bills.
Kelloholm is in the top 10% of deprived communities nationally and is the most deprived rural area in Dumfries and Galloway.
The fabric-first retrofit work is being funded by Home Group Scotland and delivered by Sureserve.
It will act as a pilot for a proposed wider programme of work bid for under the government’s Social Housing Net Zero Fund.
Home Group Scotland has previously completed a similar retrofit project on a block of flats in Dundee, with learnings from that work being used to inform the plans at Kelloholm.
Bryony Willett, director of Home Group Scotland, said: “We are excited to be delivering this retrofit project in Kelloholm.
“Improving the energy efficiency of our existing homes will help to keep our customers warm and safe in their homes and help to bring down bills.”
