Housebuilders hail 5-star performances
Several major housebuilders operating in Scotland have secured top marks in this year’s Home Builders Federation (HBF) Customer Satisfaction Survey, with Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, Dandara Scotland and Bellway all achieving the coveted 5‑star rating.
Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes – part of Barratt Redrow – have once again led the field, earning 5 stars for a record 17th consecutive year. No other UK housebuilder has matched this run.
To mark the milestone, parent company Barratt Redrow is donating £25,000 to the Construction Youth Trust. The group also continues to dominate the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards, with site managers winning 115 Quality Awards last year – more than any other builder for 21 years running.
Alison Condie, regional managing director for Barratt Redrow in Scotland, said the result reflects a long‑standing commitment to build quality and customer care, adding that “being rated 5 star for 17 years in a row means our customers love their homes.”
Dandara Scotland has also retained its 5‑star status for the sixth year in a row, scoring 4.46 out of 5 under the survey’s updated methodology, which now averages feedback from buyers at both eight weeks and nine months after moving in.
Head of sales Claire Bathgate said the rating demonstrates the company’s “passion and commitment to continually raising the bar”, highlighting its focus on innovation, net‑zero technologies and strong partnerships with local authorities.

Bellway has secured its tenth consecutive 5‑star rating, with CEO Jason Honeyman praising staff across the UK – including its East and West Scotland divisions – for their “dedication and passion” in delivering high standards of build quality and customer service. Regional chairman Steve Brown said Scottish teams take pride in building homes “they would be proud to call their own”, with customer feedback playing a key role in Bellway’s wider sustainability strategy.
Around 50,000 new‑build buyers take part in the HBF survey each year, making it one of the largest of its kind. HBF chief executive Neil Jefferson said this year’s results underline the industry’s ongoing commitment to service quality, noting that “customers are the ultimate judges of performance.”
