Housing association gets green light for 77 new homes in Irvine

The new homes, which will be built to the north of Tarryholme pond, will allow tenants to choose from 11 house types including bungalows and two-storey homes. The semi-detached and terraced properties will have two to four bedrooms.

The homes plan was signed off unanimously at a local authority planning committee last Wednesday, The Daily Record reports.

The project is phase two of a development plan - with 87 homes already built.

Councillor Tom Marshall, planning committee chair, said: “I was greatly impressed by phase 1. It is a first-class development. From the plans, it looks as if phase 2 will be as good if not better. It ticks a lot of my boxes in terms of having bungalows, single-story houses and good access.”

A design statement said: “The position of each housing type has been carefully considered within the site and the resulting positions of house types ensure that a diverse community of residents with varying needs are able to contribute to its vitality, including families, with children, older persons, veterans, wheelchair users, couples or single persons.”
