PwC is relocating approximately 500 staff from its existing workplace into the Aurora Building at 120 Bothwell Street, a ten-storey, Grade A office with net zero operational carbon, an Energy Performance Certificate A+, and BREEAM Excellent rating, making it the most sustainable office in Glasgow.

Drawing inspiration from the city’s rich industrial heritage, cultural pride and natural landscapes, BDP’s design creates a layered experience across two levels. The lower level prioritises focused, desk-based work, while the upper level offers vibrant collaboration zones, a client suite, event space, and a dramatic central stair.

Referencing the River Clyde and Glasgow’s legacy as a shipbuilding and engineering powerhouse, the interior features exposed structures, varied textures and locally influenced finishes that connect the office to its urban location.

The new workspace was developed in close collaboration with PwC staff through a series of inclusive workshops. This co-design approach helped shape everything from layout and zoning to the material palette and character of the space, ensuring it genuinely reflects the people who use it.

Jeff Main, interior designer at BDP, said: “Our design celebrates Glasgow’s distinct personality by connecting its industrial past with its progressive future. PwC’s staff were clear and unanimous in their intentions for this office.

“As such, we have created an environment that balances professional functionality with warmth, character and a genuine sense of place. This is a workplace designed to support flexibility, encourage connection and make people feel proud to come into the office.”

Matching the sustainability credentials of the Aurora building, the interior design integrates biophilic elements, responsibly sourced materials, and low-energy strategies.

Meeting rooms are named after Glasgow parks to reflect the city’s ‘Dear Green Place’ identity, and planting is used throughout to enhance wellbeing. The project is the latest in BDP’s long-standing partnership with PwC, which spans over 28 locations across the UK and Europe.

As PwC continues to invest in Scotland, it hopes the new Glasgow office stands as a powerful example of how inclusive design, local inspiration and sustainable thinking can create a workplace fit for the future.
