Industrial development proposed for site near Doune

Plans have been submitted to Stirling Council for a new industrial development on land just south of Doune and Deanston.

The proposal, lodged by RTA Building & Construction Co Ltd, outlines the construction of 12 units for commercial, industrial, and storage use. The site lies between Kilmadock Cemetery and the Lochill Industrial Estate.

In addition to workspace, the development would include shared kitchen and toilet facilities. According to the application, the site could attract a range of visitor-focused businesses, such as craft breweries, distilleries, and artisan retail outlets.

Other potential uses listed include warehousing, dark kitchens, offices, showrooms, small-scale manufacturing, e-commerce operations, workshops, and cold storage.

RTA, which is already based on the Doune site, had previously submitted a similar proposal in 2023. That application was withdrawn in January 2025 following feedback from planning officials. The revised plans aim to address the concerns raised at that time.

One area of local concern is the nearby Teith Bridge, which has been described by campaigners as increasingly hazardous, especially for pedestrians and wheelchair users.

However, a transport assessment submitted with the application concludes that the development would not negatively affect traffic flow or road safety in the area.
