Ionica Energy, a renewable energy consultancy company and project developer, has entered into a development partnership with Irish renewable energy company Galetech Group.

The new partnership will combine Galetech Group’s extensive expertise in renewable energy development, project delivery, and infrastructure investment with Ionica Energy’s local market knowledge and development capabilities.

Over the next 10 years, the partnership will seek to develop utility-scale, strategic renewable energy projects in Scotland with a minimum generation capacity of 50 megawatts (MW).

The partnership will focus on the identification and development of projects such as onshore wind, ground mounted solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and associated grid infrastructure projects, that connect into the existing substation network in Scotland.

Coinciding with the partnership announcement, Galetech Group will be in attendance at the 2026 All-Energy Exhibition and Conference taking place in the SEC in Glasgow on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th May. Galetech will have a stand at Q30 and will have members on hand to answer questions for anyone in attendance.

Speaking ahead of All-Energy Exhibition, Ron Peddie, founder and managing director of Ionica Energy, said: “Scotland has always been a world-leader in renewable energy development, and we are excited to work alongside Galetech Group to develop projects that will contribute meaningfully to the transition toward a low-carbon future.

“This partnership provides more than just financial support. Galetech Group is bringing 25 years of development and technical expertise that will add value to our project development pipeline in Scotland. With the combined expertise of both companies, I’m excited to see the work we will do together over the coming years.”

Darren Sherry, CEO of Galetech Group, added: “Galetech Group is delighted to be partnering with Ionica Energy as we expand our renewable energy activities in Scotland. Ron and the team at Ionica bring a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Scottish renewable energy industry.

“Following on from the recent announcement that Galetech Group will invest €3.5 million into the UK renewable energy sector over the coming years, this partnership underscores our commitment to develop wind, solar and battery storage infrastructure in Britain.

“We look forward to working with Ron and all the team in Ionica over the coming years as we seek to grow Galetech’s operations in the UK market.”
