JR Group shines light on worker wellbeing with Lighthouse Club partnership

The JR Group has provided a £2,000 donation, as well as its official support, to the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity - the only charity that provides dedicated emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

By working with the Lighthouse Club, the Paisley-based firm is providing its 200-strong workforce with access to a wide range of services such as the charity’s 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline, which provides a range of free and confidential wellbeing support services for employees to use if required.

Staff members at The JR Group are also being encouraged to download the charity’s Construction Industry Helpline App, which offers expert guidance on a variety of wellbeing issues.

The team will also be taking part in a number of construction-focused training programmes offered by the charity’s Wellbeing Academy, including their self paced soft skills training through to the two-day Mental Health First Aider course, which helps team members to support their colleagues who need additional mental health support whilst at work.

To coincide with this partnership, The JR Group are also pledging themselves to the principles of the Building Mental Health Charter, further extending their commitment to supporting people in the industry and build a successful Mental Health focused work culture within The JR Group.

By signing this charter, the business aims to raise awareness and understanding of the impact of poor mental health, promote positive mental practices and reduce stigmas and encourage conversation within the workplace.

Over the coming months, The JR Group will also strive to educate and enable Mental Health champions across the workforce to support keeping employees safe in matters regarding Mental Health.

John Horne, managing director at The JR Group, said: “We have always been an organisation that is sensitive to the pressures facing our workforce and our industry as a whole.

“Thanks to the Lighthouse Club and the fantastic services they provide, we were more than happy to pledge our support and incorporate their excellent knowledge, training and support services into our Wellbeing Programme, better ensuring the safety and positive Mental Health of all of our workers.

“As an organisation, we are also committed to the Building Mental Health Framework which underpins the values of our business and supports people in our industry, every day through their working lives.”

Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, said: “We are delighted to have The JR Group on board as a company supporter, their commitment to an annual pledge means that we can plan ahead and grow our proactive and reactive charitable services to support even more construction workers and their families.”
