JR Group sponsors Rangers FC and Street Soccer Scotland

The JR Group has sponsored both Rangers FC and Street Soccer Scotland at the return of the SPFL Tennent’s Sixes tournament.

The firm supported both teams taking part in the return of the indoor football competition, which went ahead at Braehead Arena earlier in October.

With a comeback following a 33-year absence, the Tennent’s Sixes brought together teams from all 12 Scottish Premiership clubs for a celebration of Scottish football, with Street Soccer Scotland being the event’s charity partner.

For the firm, sponsoring both teams gave an opportunity to bring together two key parts of its sporting commitments: its relationship with Rangers FC and its support for Street Soccer Scotland and the opportunities it creates through grassroots football.

The group had supported Street Soccer Scotland via previous contributions, such as a £2,000 contribution towards football kits for players taking part in the Scottish Mental Health and Wellbeing League.

Street Soccer Scotland works with people experiencing homelessness, social isolation as well as wider challenging circumstances, giving opportunities to develop confidence and skills and create meaningful connections via the game.

John Horne, managing director of The JR Group, said: “It was a fantastic event and a great opportunity to celebrate Scottish football at every level.

“While we have a longstanding relationship with Rangers, our connection with Street Soccer Scotland is particularly important to us because of the difference they make to people’s lives through football.

“Their work demonstrates that the game is about so much more than what happens on the pitch.”

Horne added: “It’s about giving people opportunities, building confidence, creating friendships and providing a sense of belonging.”

“We’ve always believed that businesses have a responsibility to support the communities around them, and grassroots sport is such a powerful way of doing that.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to get involved in sport, whatever their background or circumstances, and organisations like Street Soccer Scotland make that possible.”

The exhibition match helped to raise awareness of the charity’s work as they get ready to represent Scotland at the 2026 Homeless World Cup in Mexico City.
