Kilmac awarded next phase of James Hutton Institute project

Kilmac has been awarded a contract for the design, supply, delivery and installation of the bulk excavation, foundations and drainage works at Phase 4 of James Hutton Institute International Barley Hub & Advanced Plant Growth Centre building following the successful delivery of the previous phases.

The James Hutton Institute is a world-leading scientific organisation encompassing a distinctive range of integrated strengths in land, crop, waters, environmental and socio-economic science. It undertakes research for customers including the Scottish and UK governments, the EU and other organisations worldwide. The Institute has over 500 employees and 120 PhD students, and with associated bodies and spin-out companies, there are over 750 people working on Hutton campuses.

Works to be undertaken by Kilmac include foundations, earthworks, foul water drainage, vacuum excavation and reinstating existing tar.

The package will mean continued local work for the firm’s labour force, as the project is situated locally to Kilmac’s head office at Dundee Technology Park.

Works are due to be complete towards the end of February 2023.
