Kirkwood Homes wins Development of the Year at Herald Property Awards
Kirkwood Homes has been recognised with one of the top accolades at this year’s Herald Property Awards for Scotland, taking home the prestigious Development of the Year award for its Balgillo Heights development in Broughty Ferry.
The award celebrates the very best in Scottish housebuilding, honouring developments that deliver exceptional quality in design, construction, landscaping and community creation. Judges described Balgillo Heights as “a true community-focused development, showcasing sustainable design, high build quality and customer care”.
From its launch, Balgillo Heights proved to be a runaway success. Blending a thoughtfully designed layout with a diverse mix of three, four and five bedroom homes, the development offered generous space, stylish finishes and a fantastic location close to Dundee. Demand was so strong that every single home at Balgillo Heights has now sold out.
Building on this momentum, Kirkwood Homes will soon be launching another prestigious development in Dundee - Fernbrae. Due to open in 2026, Fernbrae will offer an exclusive collection of 29 beautifully designed two-bedroom luxury apartments, alongside a selection of three and four-bedroom mews homes, which the firm said will bring a new standard of contemporary living to the city.
Colin Crombie, managing director of Kirkwood Homes, said: “Winning Development of the Year for Balgillo Heights is a true testament to the outstanding quality of homes and communities we create at Kirkwood Homes. This recognition reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional developments that our customers are proud to call home, and it reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team.”
This latest success builds on Kirkwood’s strong track record at the Herald Property Awards. In 2023, the company won Best Show Home for The Gullane at Inchmarlo, followed by Best Small Family Home in 2024 for its ‘Birse’ housetype at Strabathie Village, Blackdog.
