Kitchen upgrade enhances 'lifeline' Larkfield community hub

Greenock’s Larkfield Community Hall has been revitalised with upgrades to its kitchen facilities thanks to collaboration between Link Group, its partners C~urb and Larkfield Housing Association, Inverclyde Council, and Inverclyde Leisure.

The hall has played a vital role for the Larkfield community for decades, providing a safe, accessible environment for residents to socialise and connect at community events such as Larkfield Housing Association’s annual Open Day and popular Soup and Blether events.

Grant Alexander, Link Group’s head of community wellbeing, added: “Investing in spaces that act as a ‘third place’ distinct from home and work is essential for fostering a sense of belonging and promoting social wellbeing in local areas.

“To see people coming together to improve a lifeline community space and help Larkfield Community Hall thrive as a warm, welcoming place for everyone in the area has been wonderful.”

The new kitchen units, fitted by Link Group commercial partner C~urb, have enabled the much-loved community space to continue meeting local needs and hosting accessible, engaging events for a growing number of users.

Lynne Griffin, area manager for Larkfield Housing Association, said: “As a housing association in Larkfield, we’ve seen first-hand how valued the Larkfield Community Hall is as a hub for residents of all ages; it’s a place that many people in the area rely on for connecting with their community.

“I’d like to thank our partners at Link Group and C~urb as well as Inverclyde Council and Inverclyde Leisure for their hard work in providing a fantastic example of the real impact collaborative working can have.”
