Lar Housing Trust to deliver 45 flats on ex-hotel site in Glasgow
Plans to turn an ex-hotel site which was fire-hit into flats near Glasgow Green have now received the go-ahead.
Lar Housing Trust, the developer, is currently in the process of delivering the homes at the old Inn on the Green hotel on Greenhead Street, reports The Herald.
Earlier plans to knock down the B-listed building in Bridgeton, while keeping the façade, and building an extension had received approval.
However, a more recent application added that a demolition contractor had “serious doubts regarding the structural stability of the existing building in enacting the façade retention works”.
The concerns have led to a shift in strategy, and listed building consent has been given by planners. A non-material variation to the planning application has also been submitted.
The main distinction between the applications is the current building is to be retained and refurbished. But the previous consent only allowed for the retention of the façade.
According to the plans, all irreparable and fire damaged internal finishes had been take away and the roof and floors have also been replaced.
