The funding from Cala will help Livingston Village Community Garden grow as it eyes engagement with more volunteers who enjoy gardening whilst bringing in more plants, flowers and greenery to the garden. 

The support has arrived via Cala’s Community Pledge initiative for its nearby Pinefields development, which is situated just off Charlesfield Road. The latest funding will enable the group’s volunteers to buy brand-new planters and once they attain planning permission, create more planting areas to strengthen the community area.

Elaine Carrigan, sales and marketing director at Cala Homes (East), said: “Investing in green spaces and sustainable community projects is hugely important to us.

“This community garden is far more than a space for locals to enjoy – it’s a valuable, shared space where volunteers and residents can come together, connect with nature and get involved in gardening and learn more about environmental responsibility.”

In 2024, the Livingston Village Community Garden was set up by Haleh Nather with the support of local volunteers. 

Nather, chair of the group, said: “Our volunteers generously give so much of their time into maintaining this growing local space, so this donation will help us continue to enhance and preserve it for everybody to enjoy.”
