Mayhill Housing Association has unveiled plans to deliver 108 homes at a long‑vacant site in the North Maryhill area.

The housing association has submitted a planning application to Glasgow City Council for the new housing scheme on the Collina Street site.

The housing association is delivering this regeneration project in collaboration with Transforming Communities: Glasgow (TC:G) – a partnership between Glasgow City Council, Wheatley Group and the Scottish Government. TC:G is overseeing regeneration projects in eight locations within the city, known as Transformational Regeneration Areas (TRAs).

The plans will regenerate the derelict area – locally known as “The Valley” – into a new neighbourhood with homes and landscaped areas.

It is anticipated that 95 of these 108 proposed homes will be affordable including social rent, mid-market rent and new supply shared equity. The rest of the homes are earmarked for outright sale.

The scheme would include terraced homes and flatted properties with all of the new homes having private outdoor space as well as communal landscaped areas.

The plans include new green areas through the site, better links to the surrounding area and views towards the Forth and Clyde Canal.

Previously, the Collina Street site housed tenement flats before being knocked down in 2007 and the land has remained empty since. The plans could see the land back into use and aid wider regeneration in the surrounding area.

Rebecca Wilson, chief executive at Maryhill Housing Association, said: “Our proposals are focused on delivering much‑needed, energy‑efficient homes while creating an attractive, well‑connected place for people to live.

“We believe the mix of housing tenures will help foster a balanced and sustainable community in Maryhill.”

Councillor Ruairi Kelly, convener for Housing, Development and Land Use at Glasgow City Council, said: “If approved, this development could bring almost 100 much-needed affordable homes to Maryhill, while regenerating a site that has been a blight in the part of the city for a long time.”

The planning application is currently being considered by Glasgow City Council.
