M&E services company launches apprenticeship scheme

Apprentices_32After only one year of trading, Scotland’s fastest growing Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services company Arc-Tech has launched a trade apprenticeship programme, taking on five new apprentices.

The apprentices, which include three electricians, a plumber and a heating engineer, joined Arc-Tech this August and will undertake a four-year intensive training programme where they will acquire practical and theoretical skills for use in the trade before qualifying with a recognised and respected trade qualification.

John Gallacher, managing director of Arc-Tech, said: “Arc-Tech are delighted to welcome four new apprentices to join our team. As our business has grown we have maintained a strategic approach to providing employment opportunities for site and office-based staff, now reaching 70 in total, but we felt the time was right to extend this approach into youth training. It is a decision that all companies should be making but for Arc-Tech to be able to make that decision in the first year of business is an outstanding achievement.”

Peter Dunlop, apprentice heating engineer, added: “I am very proud to have started my career in Building Services with Arc-Tech. They are an exciting company and I know with their experience that I will learn a lot in my journey to become a qualified heating engineer.”

The Cambuslang-based Arc-Tech began trading in May 2016 and offers a diverse range of M&E building services, including Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing, design and prefabrication.

The new company has so far undertaken a wide range of projects including an extensive portfolio of solar PV installation across central Scotland as well as M&E packages for the new Consolidated Car Rental Facility at Glasgow Airport, Hawkhead Care Home in Paisley, and the National HVDC Centre, a bespoke energy distribution centre, for Scottish and Southern Energy.

John Gallacher added: “It has been a great first year for Arc-Tech. Our full service approach and focus on quality and customer service sets us apart and this is underlined by our continuing commitment to developing and growing our workforce and investing in new talent.”
