Metal Technology achieves a 45% reduction in carbon emissions since 2019

Metal Technology Ltd has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 45.52% to date.
The architectural aluminium systems manufacturer is now well ahead of its target to reduce these emissions by 50% by 2030.
As part of its Climate Action Pledge and wider sustainability strategy, Metal Technology selected 2019 as its baseline year. Over the past four years, it has achieved the following reductions:
⬇️ 2021: 14.28%
⬇️ 2022: 18.77%
⬇️ 2023: 35.41%
⬇️ 2024: 45.52%
Key steps Metal Technology has taken include:
✳️ Switched all company cars to petrol, hybrid or electric
✳️ Invested in 3 new electric forklifts (now 8 total)
✳️ Upgraded all office lighting to LED with sensors where applicable
✳️ Moved from gas to electric heating
✳️ Installed a new 100kW solar array with battery storage
✳️ Switched to a 100% green energy provider
Metal Technology’s efforts earned it Top 40 Performer status in Business in the Community Northern Ireland’s NI Environmental Benchmarking Survey (NIEBS), reaching Platinum Level in just its second year.
The company is also actively working to measure and reduce its Scope 3 GHG emissions, with notable progress made through its Low Carbon Aluminium procurement policy.
