BAM UK & Ireland has appointed Mike King from Robertson Construction Group as its new regional director for Scotland.
King will join BAM on 17 September, bringing almost 30 years of experience spanning engineering, project management, operational delivery and senior leadership.
As executive technical director and a member of the board at Robertson, King worked across the group’s eight regional construction businesses, with responsibility spanning pre-construction, planning, engineering, design, digital construction, quality and business improvement.
In his new role, King will lead BAM’s construction business in the region, working with its teams, clients and partners to build on the company’s established presence across key public and private sector markets.
BAM has a strong track record of delivering complex construction projects across Scotland, particularly in healthcare and education. Recent projects include the £72 million net zero carbon Parkhead Health and Social Care Centre in Glasgow and the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Radionuclide Dispensary.
BAM is also delivering some of Scotland’s most ambitious sustainable education projects, including Dunfermline Learning Campus, home to Woodmill and St Columba’s high schools, and Caledonia High School in Rosyth, both designed to the rigorous Passivhaus standard.
Kim Sides, executive director, construction, BAM UK and Ireland, said: “I’m delighted Mike is joining BAM to lead our Scotland region and contribute to our broader Divisional key client strategy. He brings an excellent blend of operational, technical and commercial experience, as well as a proven ability to support teams and strengthen business performance.
“His collaborative approach, strong client focus and understanding of what it takes to deliver successful projects will be a real asset to BAM through this leadership role in Scotland.”
Mike King added: “I’m really looking forward to joining BAM and to working with the team to build on BAM’s strong reputation of delivering for its clients and communities.”
