Moray Council approves 204 new homes for Elgin South Village development

Elgin South

Moray Council has approved plans for 204 new homes, delivered by the housebuilder Springfield Properties.

Situated in the edge of Elgin, the most recent phase consists of a combination of private and affordable housing, commercial opportunities for local businesses and community areas.

The scheme will bring a variety of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes to the area.

Based on the plans, there is an area which has been allocated for allotments, a play park, pitches and green space, such as a linear park.

Springfield managing director (North), Dave Main, said: “After two years of collaborative working with Moray Council, we’re pleased to have secured planning and are excited to get started on site to deliver the next phase of homes.

“This decision will support the local economy as the construction of these homes will generate continued work for local trades, business for suppliers and develop the next generation through the creation of apprentices.”

Main added: “This approval has come at a great time for buyers too. We’re introducing a collection of house styles we’ve not built in Elgin before so there will be more choice for those looking to buy.

“Now, with approval in place, we can finalise details ahead of releasing the homes for sale next week.”

Jacqui and her partner, Lynn, recently moved back to Elgin and spoke of the opportunity to personalise their home. Jacqui said: “We quickly learned one of the bonuses of a Springfield home is that we could personalise the house to add our own character.

“We upgraded the kitchen, added a Quooker tap, granite worktops and more sockets and spot lights – even adjusted one of the walls so we have the option of adding double doors if we wish in the future.”
