Morgan Sindall appointed to £12.4m East Dunbartonshire primary school

Woodhill Primary School useConstruction and infrastructure company Morgan Sindall is constructing a new primary school campus in Bishopbriggs as part of East Dunbartonshire Council’s plan to update its schools estate.

Located on the existing Woodhill Primary School site, the new building will replace the existing Auchinairn Primary, Woodhill Primary and Cleddens Learning and Childcare Centre.

Upon completion, the two-storey building will serve around 560 pupils and 145 pre-school children and will feature open classrooms, outdoor learning areas and landscaped play areas. The school is based upon the design successfully delivered at Lairdsland Primary School – also in East Dunbartonshire – which aligns to the Curriculum for Excellence and provides modern, flexible learning environments for pupils and staff alike.

Morgan Sindall was appointed by hub West Scotland, East Dunbartonshire Council’s development partner responsible for managing the development. The new school will be built as part of the Council’s Primary School Improvement Programme (PSIP).

Edward Carr, area director of Morgan Sindall in Scotland, said: “Providing high quality learning environments is essential to ensuring our children receive an education which enables them to become successful contributors to our local communities.

“We are delighted to be continuing our successful partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council and hub West Scotland through the delivery of the new Woodhill Primary School and are already engaging with the school communities to ensure pupils and staff are fully involved in the project.”

Debbie McNamara, CEO at hub West Scotland, added: “This is the third of a number of schools hub West Scotland is delivering with our partners, East Dunbartonshire Council. I am proud that the successful partnership is delivering high quality educational facilities for the communities of East Dunbartonshire.”
