Morrison Construction brought on board for Midlothian school replacement

Morrison Construction has been appointed by Midlothian Council to complete the RIBA Stage 3 and 4 design for the replacement Beeslack Community High School project.

The school will provide capacity for 1200 pupils, with core accommodation such as dining, gym halls and social areas for 1400 pupils. The school will also include a swimming pool, Additional Support Needs (ASN) provision, community and external sports facilities.

The Severe and Complex Medical Needs (SCMN) provision, previously proposed as part of the campus, will now be located at another site in Midlothian.

The anticipated completion and opening of the new school are programmed for the end of 2029. Further updates will be provided as key stages are reached.

A Proposal of Application Notice (POAN) for the project has been submitted ahead of a full planning application for the redesigned school in January 2027.
