Muir Construction hosts BE-ST to promote low-carbon delivery and training

Reinforcing the contractor’s commitment to low-carbon construction and continuous improvement across its projects and supply chain, the discussion focused on the evolving landscape of low-carbon construction and the increasing expectations from clients around sustainable delivery.

It provided an opportunity for Muir Construction’s leadership team to exchange insights on emerging standards, retrofit innovation and the role of contractors and supply chains in supporting the transition to a lower-carbon built environment.

The meeting took place at the Younger Building, where Muir Construction is delivering a major refurbishment for Scarborough Group. The 89,863 sq ft six-storey building is being transformed into high-quality flexible office accommodation and will relaunch as Base West Edinburgh.

Sustainability is a key driver behind the project, with the building moving towards a fully electric, low-carbon operation and targeting an EPC A rating. Upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, LED lighting, improved air quality and intelligent building controls will support improved building performance while creating a healthier and more efficient workspace for future occupiers.
