Muir Homes granted approval for Auchterarder plans

Muir Homes’ bid to deliver 48 new homes as part of the expansion of Auchterarder at Castlemains has been given the green light.
Two separate applications for neighbouring sites were both unanimously approved by Perth & Kinross Council’s planning and placemaking committee.
The first application was for 38 two to five-bedroom houses and four two-bedroom flats on land 40 metres north of 51 Castle Drive; the second was for six four-bedroom detached homes on land 90 metres north-west of Castlemains Farm Steading.
As part of the construction, Muir would contribute to the local community, including the safeguarding of land for sports and recreational use.
It could also mean more money for the local community bus which serves local key services in the town. Muir Homes was part of a group of developers who previously provided around £150,000 to the Auchterarder Community Facilities Fund to start the number 49 bus. Muir Homes said the new proposed development would lead to a further £36,000 being made available for local investment.
Robert Herd, managing director, Muir Homes, said: “We welcome the decision of Perth and Kinross Council that will allow us to complete the Castlemains development. Our commitment to Auchterarder extends beyond housing—we are investing tens of thousands of pounds in vital local projects like the community bus, as well as safeguarding the land to the northwest of Auchterarder for sports and recreational use in the future.
“Muir Homes is keen to deliver these new private and affordable homes as quickly as possible to help address the current housing emergency, bringing new families to Auchterarder as well as providing new housing options for those who already live in the area.”
